Candle care and safety
Keep ’er lit. Sensibly.
A little care helps a candle burn more evenly and keeps the whole operation safe. Follow the product label first, then use this quick guide whenever you need a reminder.
Give the first burn time
On the first burn, let the melted wax travel towards the edge of the jar. A full, even melt pool helps the candle burn more evenly next time.
Trim before relighting
Before each burn, remove loose wick debris and trim the cooled wick. A tidy wick helps keep the flame steady and the jar cleaner.
Pick a sensible spot
Place the candle upright on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, curtains and anything flammable. Keep it beyond the reach of children and pets.
Do not leave it carrying on
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep several burning candles apart, follow the safety label on the jar and extinguish the flame if it becomes unusually high or starts smoking.
Know when to call it
Stop using the candle when the safety label tells you to, or if the jar is damaged. Let the glass and wax cool fully before moving, touching or relighting it.
Read the label
The label supplied with your candle contains the product-specific safety instructions. Keep it attached and follow it throughout the candle’s life.
